Under lover

Mr Takahashi of Undercover never ceases to amaze Mr. Hare and never more so than with this amazing courier bag.
What an amazing object to own.
Can anybody tell me where I can get one?

Prada-tors!

When Mr. Hare first saw these little reptiles from Prada in Selfridges last week, he wasn't really sure. But now, in a Nigerian playboy kind of way, he is kind of digging them.

Obama Force 1's

Check these out from artist Jim Lasser, in support of our man Obama. Click title for more info.

Times on my side

Isn't the internet a wonderful thing? Mr. Hare has just enjoyed, in bed in Brooks Brothers pyjamas, The New York Times Mens Fashion Fall AW2008 On-line Edition. It contains more than enough fantastic shoes ( and I mean really fantastic) to turn a Monday morning around, as well as many other subjects of great interest.

Mr. Hare thoroughly recommends the section on new collectibles which features these dashing copper embroidered Derby's from Lanvin and these stunning loafers from Arfango made for Lapo Ellkan.

And, great minds thinking alike, (see Mr. Hare Aug 28th - I'm a Creep, I'm a Weirdo) there is an article on one Mr. Hare's current obsessions, The Brothel Creeper.

Good show!

Laced with frivolity

Look what a difference a little lace styling can do.
Mr. Hare is not entirely convinced by the whole Swedish fashion movement, and for good reason which, he is legally precluded from discussing, but he is a fan of Acne and these shoes.

Dress Sneakers

Mr. Hare is essentially pro shoe, but I often like to shift the emphasis of a particularly formal presentation de soir by opting for a dress sneaker. Should you be considering such a move any time soon, may I make three suggestions.
Lanvin - www.barneys.com
Well? Who else did you think would be on this list?

Common Projects - www.commonprojects.com
A slimmed down Air Force 1 in black patent leather, it doesn't get any more player than that.
Jil Sander - www.Oki-ni.com
These are just out there. How could anyone ignore them? Or even question your choice?

Brooks could kill.

Love them or Loathe them, you must take a look at some of the totally badass shoes currently available at prep mecca, Brooks Brothers. Mr. Hare is not one to shop on any high Street for his footwear but even I am tempted.
Tassle loafers in Cordovan leather.
Cordovan is leather from the hind quarters of a horse. Hard-wearing, scuff resistant, buffs well and is reassuringly expensive.
Classic Riding Boot
Speaking of horses, the nearest Mr. Hare has come to one lately is from the Queens stand on Ladies day at Epsom, but these are hot to trot.
Mr. Hare is no stranger to the fairway but these are 10 under!

Alligator Wing Tips. Surely the box on the top shelf of any respectable shoeists closet.
Did ever a finer Oxford wingtip toe-tap to the beat of Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers.

In case anyone is wondering, what do you buy the shoe blogger who has everything, for christmas?

Booty Call Back.

Mr. Hare missed these rather special man boots from Rachel Comey in the Booty Call post yesterday, so to make up for it, here they are.

Shoeban Revolution.

Alejandro Ingelmo is a descendent of the Cuban Ingelmo Shoe dynasty who have been crafting fine shoes there and abroad throughout most of the last century.
Two years ago Alejandro launched his own line of fiendishly sexy women's shoes to much acclaim.  See below featured in W magazine.
Now Based out of Mercer Street NYC, he has decided to drop a sneaker line of the quality one would expect of a fine shoe maker.
As he himself would say "Boom!".

They are completely leather lined and come in all fruit flavours to attract honey bees.
Look what happened when Mr. Hare recently rocked some in Paris.
Alejandro Ingelmo's (pronounced Alley-handro Ing-helmo) or AI's as us who rock them call them, have just landed at Oki-ni. (Click on the title to go there).
Mr. Hare has also obtained exclusive pictures of SS09, but doesn't want to completely blow your mind in one day, so keep checking.

Firmly meant

On the Firmament website (Berlin) these are described as Oxfords. Technically they are Derby's but Mr. Hare can't find anything else wrong about them.

Same but different

Mr. Hare is a firm believer in doing simple things well, which Japanese shoe companies are masters in the art of. These suede work boots from Shapel exude quality and all the keynotes that catch Mr. Hares eye.
Click the title and go see the other colours on their site.

Court the Vapours!

Mr. Hare is not about to get all Hype/Freaker/Beastiety and go sportswear but Mr.Hare recognises game when he sees it and these tennis shoes from Visvim are game.
You can almost smell the tannery from whence they came. Visvim have always commanded Mr. Hare's attention for their complete disregard for the rules where styling, construction and end purpose are concerned. Just look at these badboys.

A List and Plan B

Mr. Hare has been liking the idea of a dress loafer as we head into party season. Lets face it summer is not happening. So these fine beauties from YSL (who else?) are exactly what I was thinking.

Mr. Hare is also oddly drawn to these "Mario 25 black patents" from B Store. There is something caddish about them I just can't put my finger on.
Sammy would go!

Japan Ease

Mr. Hare is not sure how he feels about these shoes but he likes to see something different and these are. From Chausser, in Japan of course.
Also from Chausser, the most acceptable man heel of the season.

Pierre Hardy for The Gap.

You wish these were them! But they are not. When are they coming out anyway? Does anybody actually know? Is it a US thing? What's the point of that? There are many things Mr. Hare has not bothered to comb with the brush of journalistic integrity for this post but Mr. Hare has one fact. There are few famous women's shoe designers who excite equally on the man's side of things, but Mr. Hardy (Do you see what I did there?) is the daddy of them all. Click on the title of this post to go straight to his site and see if you agree.

These are the Gap (Yawwwwwnnn!) ones, by the way.

Comme as you are.

Mr. Hare was rather taken by these Comme des Garcons in Browns. Inspired by Carnaby Street but built for Jermyn Street, finished in fine calf leather.  A real point to the last and proper walls that will remain over time. Non obtrusive single sole and a toe spring with just the right attitude. And then the Tartan...Genius!

These are Thursday night shoes of stamina that will take you from soiree to dinner to
cocktails to Gaz's and beyond.
Always with a twinkle in your eye and a spring in your step.

Why Thursday?

Because Thursday night is when London is frequented by people who care about such things.

I'm a Creep. I'm a Weirdo.

Mr. Hare has always admired a Brothel Creeper. The name alone is extraordinary. A Brothel Creeper used to Brothel Creep by Creepers of Brothels.
The Problem with Brothel Creepers is that it is so hard to find a pair made by a true shoe artisan not of the Carnaby/enthusiast variety. It takes a lot of dancing to make such a pair look this good.So the appearance of male wedges of the quiet stepping through ladies of the night establishments variety is very appealing and has been duly noted.

For ShYSL!

Chelsea...Who are You!

Frank Lampard of Chelsea Football club earns £140,000 a week.
If he could rock a Chelsea boot as convincingly as our man from Margiela below, I would say he deserved it, but he never will, because he's only a footballer.
You see Fat Frank, as he is affectionately known by most people would not
appreciate the way a chelsea boots sole
purpose in life is to afford you an attractive ankle silhouette which your trouser leg, as if in a Marvin/Tammy Tyrell harmonious duet, should follow. If you can slide your wallet up your hem in chelsea boots then you are wearing the wrong pants. Creating an effect Fat Frank might describe as a bell end. Length of trouser is also important. A Chelsea is a shoeist exercise in refinement. Bunching, or cabbage foot is not the desired impact. Worn with these simple observations a Chelsea boot is a the male equivalent of a six inch stiletto on Giselle. Without them, you might as well wear Uggs.
